DOE Grand Junction Project Office (Colorado): Conducts long-term environmental surveillance and maintenance of uranium mill tailings disposal sites and other waste sites and contaminated properties.
DOE Oak Ridge Operations: Manages major national programs in energy research, national defense, reindustrialization, and environmental cleanup. Based in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, with programs and facilities in five states.
DOE Oakland Operations Office: Manages the following major research and development facilities report to OAK; Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL), and Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC). The first two facilities are operated by the University of California (UC), while Stanford University operates SLAC.
DOE Ohio Field Office: Exists to clean up five former nuclear weapons production sites throughout Ohio and western New York state.
Fernald Environmental Management Project (U.S. DOE): A former uranium processing facility located in southwest Ohio undergoing environmental remediation.
Hanford Site: On the Columbia River in southeastern Washington state, managed by the DOE Richland Operations Office. Served as a plutonium production complex for national defense for more than 50 years beginning with the Manhattan Project. Now the world's largest environmental cleanup project.
Idaho Operations Office: Oversees the operations of the Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory (INEEL).
National Nuclear Security Administration Service Center, Albuquerque: Primary mission is stewardship and maintenance of the U.S. nuclear weapons stockpile.
Nevada Test Site: Where many underground and atmospheric tests of nuclear weapons were conducted
NNSA/DOE - Nevada Site Office: Provides federal management and oversight for the Nevada Test Site and its offsite locations in Nevada, California, New Mexico, and Washington, D.C.
Rocky Flats Closure Project: Responsible for the DOE Rocky Flats Site (formerly used for plutonium processing) in Colorado.
Savannah River Site (SRS): DOE facility located near Aiken, South Carolina. Also the home of the Savannah River Technology Center, an applied research and development (R&D) laboratory.
Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP): The Carlsbad Area Office leads the U.S. transuranic radioactive waste disposal efforts.
